Crowns
Crowns are dental restorations used to repair and strengthen decayed, broken, brittle or heavily filled teeth. A crown is a custom-made cap that covers the existing tooth structure and filling. It can also be an artificial tooth that is attached to a dental implant used to replace a missing tooth.
The procedure usually takes two visits.
At the initial appointment a small portion of the enamel and existing filling is removed. An impression is then taken and sent to the specialist ceramics laboratory where your new custom designed crown is made to look like an exact replica of a healthy tooth. A temporary crown is placed to protect the remaining tooth structure while the final crown is being fabricated.
At the second appointment the crown is then checked for aesthetics, occlusal harmony, function and fit before being cemented over the remaining tooth preparation.
If you have filled or damaged teeth ask the professional team at Dental Excellence for a consultation and the dentist will be able to provide you with further details and treatment options suited specifically to your needs.
